Let's Talk Anime Expo: How 2023 Actually Went

Anime Expo 2023 came and went in a flash. It was kind of insane how quickly it came and went. Maybe it was because I didn't have as much of an "excited anticipation" as in previous years. I was excited about it, but I wasn't really anticipating it.

I want to be more varied from my Anime Expo 2023 Commentary video (uploaded to my YouTube on the 21st). I'm going to run through the basics quick.

1. The crowd control was insane.
Thankfully,  I managed to avoid a good chunk of the crowds (although crowds of any size are inevitable at Anime Expo...). But the AX staff and volunteers really did not have a good handle on crowds and crowd control, especially right before the opening of the Exhibit Hall, Artists' Alley, and Entertainment Hall.

2. I had a pretty decent time, but it wasn't fantastic.
There were obviously some issues, but I had a good time overall.

Some of the things that I mentioned in my last post here:

Mask mandate that's actually enforced unless eating or drinking - didn't happen, but I was masked for a majority of AX unless I was eating or drinking

Better crowd management - didn't happen

More advertisement for panels, with some sort of obvious note which panels are ticketed - didn't happen

More places available to simply sit and rest - sort of? kind of hard to tell

Better organized Exhibit Hall and Artists' Alley - again, sort of and hard to tell
