24 Tips & Tricks for Your Next Disneyland Trip (if You're on a Budget)

Image
Disneyland Resort Logo After going to Disneyland and DCA 3 times over the past 5 months, I have a pretty good list of tips and tricks you all can use on your next trip to Disneyland. A few things to note, though: This is not an end-all-be-all list of tips and tricks to use for your Disneyland trip - there are many other blogs and YouTube channels to turn to that have plenty of other tips & tricks Since Disneyland California is the only Disney park I've visited, these are more Disneyland-esque/related (but I'm sure you can apply these tips in one way or another to other Disney Parks) I have also done a YouTube video on the topic, which is linked below! The first 19 (?) tips are the ones I talked about in the video, so I won't go into too much detail on those. Tip 1 : Get to the park as early as possible, preferably around rope drop. Tip 2 : Have a portable charger (or even 2, depending on the size of your group, or if you use your phone a lot). Tip 3 : Bring any hygiene ...

YouTube Chats

Image
YouTube Logo I wanted to have this little chatty post to talk a little bit about my YouTube, because I'm actually relatively proud of the content I've been posting of late. You can find me on YouTube at The Shanna Eilish Show (@theshannaeilishshow). My YouTube, and any playlists mentioned will be linked at the end. (Videos will not be linked, since many of them are not out yet.) I have a few new series going/about to start. The first is the "Monthly Thursdays" series. The first video will be up 04/25. The second is my Book Tag Tuesdays series, the first video going up on 04/29. Both series will be monthly, with videos going up on the last Thursday and last Tuesday of each month. Icon for June's "Monthly Thursday" Video (Will be out 06/27) I also have my Anime Expo 2024 Vlog Series mostly scheduled. (This excludes the GRWM Chats video, the Vlog, and the Merch Haul, which will all be recorded at/during AX and scheduled soon after). The AX 2024 Vlog Series ...

What I Had at the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival (and Ranking)

Image
Mickey Mouse Ferris Wheel So I was at Disney California Adventure on March 10, during the Food & Wine Festival. (You can see my posts from it on my IG, @shannadoesstuff). I was happily surprised by my experience. Here's what I had/did that was specifically during the Food & Wine Festival. Drinks Kobler Estate Wine Tasting at Cocktales at Sonoma Terrace The wine tasting was really fun, featuring a small winery in the Sonoma area called the Kobler Estate Winery. I'm blanking on the wine names, but they were all tasty. Ranking: 1. Red wine, right - it was drier than I like my red wines, but the Kobler Estate wines are drier by nature, so I was ok with this 2. White wine, left - this one was on the fruitier side, which is something I like in wines 3. White wine, middle - this one was floral and had a great taste, but I did enjoy it (just not as much as the other two) Meals/Savory Cheeseburger Bao Bun (California Craft Brews) Pulled Pork Mac N Cheese (Top Left) (Garlic Kisse...

A Cozy Chat

Image
Some of My Books, Feb. 2024 I haven't been in a great "blog-post-writing mood" as I've been calling it. So I figured a cozy, "chatty" type post would be best suited. My socials - YouTube , Bookstagram , and BookTok - are running smoothly. Although getting back into these blog posts has been a bit hard, mainly due to trying to come up with good post ideas. But I'm trying, and the inspo searches are going strong. One of my 3 current reads Audiobook through Hoopla Crocheting has been really fun, although I've been on a bit of a blanket kick. I'm going to try to get the blanket I'm currently working on done sometime in mid- to late March. Once that's done, I'm going to practice some other techniques in preparation for some other, smaller projects. I feel like I am finally  out of the reading slump I was in for the last half to third of 2023. Which is great. But I'm really trying to take it slow - I don't want to end up in another...

Big 2024 Update Post!

Image
New Username and PFP on IG/TikTok I kind of disappeared from here during those last few months - sorry about that! 2024 . . . wow, it's weird saying that. 2024 will be a new year! (And is, I guess . . . ) So this post is mainly to act as an update post, and come February 23, I should hopefully be back to my regular posting. Update 1 : New username and profile photo for Instagram and TikTok! It's @booksnhooks on IG and @shannasbooksnhooks on TikTok, both of which can be found on my linktree . This is because I took up crocheting at the end of August/beginning of September! And I loved it! Update 2 : I am no longer updating my reading progress to Goodreads. Mainly because it isn't doing what I want it to do. I am now solely updating to my Storygraph, which I can be found at " shannasbooksnhooks ". Update 3 : My YouTube videos are now going up regularly for the foreseeable future, every Friday at 7am Pacific Time. Update 4 : I will hopefully be attending AX 2024, so ...

I'm Working on A Story . . .

Image
Pin Link Relatively consistently since April 2023, I've been writing a story. It's a historical fiction novel that centers around the last couple of years - and the last major battles of Alexander III of Macedon (known to history as Alexander the Great). Its current title is At the End of June , with the whole series being referred to as the At the End of  trilogy . I was so excited and amped to be writing this story for a few reasons. Firstly, I felt like it's a historical fiction story I would love to read . It's a good mix of ancient Greek history, mythology, and some cozy, low-stake vibes. (So much of the Greek mythology retellings are so high stakes, it's kind of crazy.) Secondly, I've given a bit more distinction to the roles of the various Gods of Death (Thanatos, Mors, Anubis, Hel, etc.). Lastly, I've also made Death their own character, who's a genderfluid pan . . . being who identifies as female and uses she/they pronouns during the course of ...

Goodreads vs. Storygraph: Is Storygraph the "New Goodreads"?

Image
Goodreads and Storygraph Logos In the past six months of 2023, especially over Booktok, a wave of readers have discovered and begun using Thee Storygraph, a reading tracker alternative to Goodreads. Often referred to simply as "Storygraph," it has quickly become a reader favorite. Here are some ways I think that Storygraph is actually  better than Goodreads, and a few reasons why I'm still using GR. Storygraph Logo Partial star ratings. This is a big one for me. Often times in my Goodreads reviews, I put " Actual star rating : [insert fractional rating here]" because certain books may not feel like one full star rating or another. And I'm not the only reader who includes a fractional star rating - and has complained about not  having this feature - in their Goodreads reviews. Storygraph, however, has  partial star ratings, specifically .25 , .5 , and .75 . Which makes rating on a 5-star basis so much easier . A DNF feature. While you can set up an "excl...
