Disney's Just Announced a Few Sequels, and Fans Are . . . Reacting

Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff

Disney's made some pretty big announcements for a few upcoming sequels: Frozen 3 (maybe "III" based on Frozen II), Toy Story 5, and Zootopia 2.

There are a lot of questions floating around about what could possibly happen in these sequels, especially with Frozen 3.

But here are a couple of comments that I have regarding these sequels (and Disney sequels in general).

Bo Beep, Woody, and Buzz

I can't remember where I read this, but Frozen's director basically said she felt the story ended after Frozen II: Into the Unknown. So, a few questions.
Why are we getting Frozen 3?
Does Frozen really need a 3rd movie?
What more is there to tell that can't be told in a short or featurette?

Similarly, what more is there to tell in the Toy Story world of these specific toys, that requires a 5th movie? Here are some questions regarding that.
Again, why do we need a Toy Story 5?
Why not a short or featurette, like they've done with the franchise in the past?
Why not introduce a whole new cast of characters and start a new series within that world? (And audiences could possibly see the og characters at different points.)

Or should they simply do to Frozen and Toy Story what Elsa did to her queenship in both movies . . .

With Zootopia, I am slightly more hopeful since we haven't received too much exploring of this world from Disney. Yes, there was that series of shorts, but a whole second movie would be good to explore the dynamics of the other settings within Zootopia.

However, I do think that Disney's fallen into this pattern of relying either on sequels or on live-action remakes. And in some instances, like Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, they rely on both of these. This is often in lieu of creating whole new animated or live-action movies.

The thing is: Disney has these doors open.
They can make new movies, animated or live-action.
They can make sequels.
They can do remakes.

However, Disney seems to choose the easiest options. And, in my opinion, they're not always done very well.

But we'll see how these sequels do and go from there.
